Some Exciting News!

I got some exciting news this weekend.  Stef H (Glitterbabe) has chosen a new design team and I am delighted to let you know I am on that team.  I look forward to working with everyone on the team.  I have always loved glitter and bling so this gives me a great reason to use more of both!   We will have challenges every Thursday I hope you will join us for our first one this Thursday!  Be sure and check out Glitterbabe’s store here and the new Challenge Blog here.

Here is my first card for the new team, I thought the image was perfect for a going away card I needed today.  One of our pastors has moved along to another church so they had a huge celebration today so I thought this card would be great for him.

I used an image I found at her freebie  here!  I used basic gray designer paper.  The base is PTI.  It is hard to tell in this picture but I used glitter on the flowers and grass and  on the wheel I used a  glitter brad.

We are giving you two opportunities to win great Bugaboo images by commenting on the hop  for 3 free images and by participating in the challenge for a up to 7 free images!

Here is my project for today.  The idea came from my 19 year old daughter.  She found it online and said she would like to do one of these for her boyfriend.  Well when we decided to do a “love” theme I just knew that this is something I wanted to do for the project .

My project is “52 ways to say I love You!” and it is a deck of cards covered with dp paper, some ribbon and bling and then “52 reasons” added to the cards.  I used a 3 inch  book ring to keep them together. Image is “Cuddle” in the A kids View found here.

This is a very easy project and it really turned out cute!

Decorative Coaster Tutorial

I have a unique way to make a great coaster.  I have done this  many times and I love the outcome.

Cost of project is less than .50.

This can be done as a single coaster or as a set to give a friend.

P1040156

Supplies:

4x4 Plain white ceramic tile (found at local hardware store for .34)

4x4 chipboard coaster (for back of tile) you may also use foam or felt sheets if chipboard coaster is not available.

Paper napkin-any Napkin will work be sure and check your local stores for many many choices, most napkins will yield 4 coasters!

Image of choice – My choice is from Bugaboo – Ruby May

Markers of choice

Glue stick, Spray adhesive, Mod Podge

Sentiment (either stamped or computer generated)

P1040161 P1040162

Steps:

1.  Adhere chipboard coaster to back of tile  to prevent scratches

2.  Take your napkin and slowly  tear it down to just 1 layer, patience it will tear if you try to be hasty.   Rough cut the napkin to show what part of the design you would like to use as you can see I decided to not use the strips so you decide.

P1040164 P1040165

3. Glue napkin to tile, gently pushing it to the edge taking out any wrinkles as you push.

4.  Trim away excess napkin from the tile.

 P1040167  P1040171

5. Glue image onto tile and color as normal.   (Please note I did not like how the stamped image looked on napkin so I ended up matting it see below for change.

 P1040172

6.  Paint a thin but full layer over the entire tile.  Watch for wrinkles and work them out as you go.  Let Dry over night and add a second coat in am.

P1040186

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, this is such an easy project to make and it is so reasonable!

Challenge Time!!! Show us your colors!

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa begins on 06/11/2010 and ends on 07/11/2010. The official website is here. The World Cup is only held once every four years and is the world's premier soccer event.

Since we have a lot of international followers (Germany, The Netherlands, South Africa, Greece, Malta, etc) and an international DT (US, UK/Wales, Australia, and Canada), we thought it'd be fun to have sponsor a challenge where people make either a card or project that features:

  • the team colors of the country that he/she wants to win the World Cup (I'd say "Go USA" except that we have no chance of winning, so "Adelante Espana!")
  • the colors of his/her national flag
  • the colors of his/favorite sports team (i.e. silver & blue for the Dallas Cowboys)

Participate in the challenge for a chance to win the following prizes:

    • 1st prize - 7 Bugaboo Digi Images of your choice
    • 2nd prize - 4 Bugaboo Digi Images of your choice
    • 3rd prize - 2 Bugaboo Digi Images of your choice
  • Head on over to the challenge blog for all the details!
