05/31/2011 New Release Tuesday

Summertime, summertime, sum summertime!   It is finally here!   The weather is warmer, the pools are open and it is time for cookouts and picnics!   Lucky for us Jodie is releasing a new line today that is perfect for all those Picnic/Cookout invites and  all your great projects!

Bugaboo Stamps has new Fruit Fly -images available for purchase today in its new store (which, by the way, today is the last day to enjoy 50% off of your entire purchase in). Before you start planning all those Cookouts and pool parties, take a little sneaky-peeky at the absolutely fabulous projects that the the DT members have created here.

Below are the two cards I made using papers and ribbons from my stash, the sentiment on the orange is a freebie (sorry not sure who created it but I thought it fit the image perfectly).  I printed the orange twice and ran it through my cuttlebug with the dotted swiss embossing folder for texture then pop dotted it.  I added glittle to the wings and the fruit to make it sparkle!

Oops Delay in Latest Challenge!

I am so sorry I just got back from vacation (not sorry about that) and   just realized my post did not go up for yesterdays  Bright Colors and Special Vendor – Flower Soft Challenge!

Today we have the distinct honor of working with a fabulous vendor and their design team!  Today we are playing with Flower Soft!   Below you will see some great creations featuring the newest release of Meadow, Marigold, and Peony Pink.  As you will see Flower Soft is not just for flowers and I think the team has some great examples to prove just that, you can see all their creations here!   While our team is using the latest colors we encourage you to play along this week with Bright colors and if you have Flower Soft break it out and you can qualify for even more special prizes!  Flower Soft has provided us with 5 extra sets of the new release to award to our entrants this week.   So in addition to our normal prizes 5 more winners will be chosen who use Flower Soft on their project!

Below is my card using one of the great clown numbers from Jodie and some card stock from PTI and designer paper from an older stack that just worked perfectly for the colors we were using for FS the vendor sent us!  I used the marigold and the meadow and then added my favorite other goodie the glitter snow to make the frosting!   I added some baubles to finish off my card!

Below is my card using the latest image paired with paper from my stash when I saw this adorable image I just knew  I need pink polka dots and was so happy when I found this left over.   I used PTI Raspberry cardstock and Stampin Up Guava as well.  I love the bubblegum pink ribbon to match!

It’s Time for a Copic Challenge

It is time for another challenge at Copic Challenge!

Today we are bringing in Summertime!   Our challenge is to  do projects showing what kind  of activities we enjoy during the summertime!   Now I am a beach lover for sure but then so are most people so I decided to go a different way with my card.

Here is my card for today's challenge at !  Who doesn't like a nice bike ride on a warm summer day!   My image is Bugaboo.  My paper is American Crafts and card stock by PTI! The ribbon was from Hobby Lobby!

Grads, Dads and other Celebrations Challenge!

Below is my card using Stampin Up from their Download area.  When I saw the image I just loved it and the sentiments are great!   I had a guy at work ask me to make him a funny Grad card so I chose this one and I think it is perfect for what he wanted.  I had humor but also showed how proud he was.  I used PTI card stock!

The challenge this week is to create a card or project depicting graduation or the end of school. This project could include a graduation card, thank you card to a teacher, or an image depicting the end of school. Remember you must use Copics in your project so, get those Copics out and start coloring!

Wacky Wednesday Challenge #2

Today begins our Challenge #2 of our Wacky Wednesday challenges over at our PCP and CDAC groups. 

Today is an inspiration  and here is the picture I picked for it!

Don’t you wish you were there?  Well I hope to be very close to there this Sunday!   Thanks to my wonderful hubby we leave Sunday for a family vacation/cruise!  To say that I am excited is an understatement!  We have had so much rain and damp and cold weather this week that I can not wait to go and bask in the sun with my family!   I am so looking forward to it! 

Below is my “inspired” card which I plan to give to my hubby as a Thank you card when we are on  our way!  We just celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary and I would like to hope that one day we will be ole Stella and Gus (without the Speedos of course).   I merged Gus and Stella together and found a coloring page to create a background for them.  The Sentiment is a freebie from Gingers House one of my favorite sentiment freebie spots!  The paper is from my stash and I thought it was perfect for this layout.  I add some fuzzy brads that I found in my embellishment basket and some string to finish it off!

Below is my card using an image from the I do set.  I used the card from SCS and a template I found here.  If you go to her blog she has included a template to run through your printer and cut out.  It was a very easy template to follow.   I added lace to the dress  and to the image I added glaze and glitter to make the diamond pop.

CS Designs Surprise Weekly Challenge May 2011

I found these adorable images recently and decided to play along with this weeks challenge.

CS Designs - Shape Challenge May 9 - May 31, 2011

This one is Easy Peasy anything goes but there is one requirement.

You must have at least one half circle in your creation

and the circle must be at least 1.5" You don't have to stop at one,

you can use as many as you wish, but no full circles.

Below is my card using one of the cutie images for CS Designs.  I used paper from Paper Studio paper pack  called Poteeka  Souffle which I love because of the bright bold colors.  I think the work great with this image.   I added jewels to make the image pop!

Get Well Wishes!

Today I want to share with you a card I did for a guy at work who just had open heart surgery.  As with most it was totally unexpected and the surgery was a success so we are very thankful.

This card came at a good time because it also serves as my first project for a new team I have been asked to join!   I am very excited and thankful to my friend Melissa for asking me to consider joining the team over at Simply Scrapping – Copic Challenges!  They host weekly challenges that last for 1 month and the prizes are awesome!   I hope you will check it out.  The entire site is really cool but this challenge group is fresh and new and lots of fun as well.  I look forward to working with everyone!

This weeks challenge is to make a card that has a “Purpose”, what we mean is make that card and send it to someone don’t just stick it in the box or the album, make someone’s day and mail it by the end of may!

I added some string to finish it off.

Below is my card using Dottie Dorothy, I just love this collection and just love how she turned out.   I used PTI red card stock and the check paper is from my stash I am so in to gingham so when I saw it at a good price I snagged it!  Ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I added glitter to her shoes and earrings and then diamond glaze to help finish her off!

Below is my card using Lemon Tart from PTI and Cameo Coral from Stampin Up.  I went very simple by adding just simple ribbon and the Score lines to finish it off.

What The Heck I Flower Soft?

That is the question I asked myself the first time I saw Flower Soft.

Flower Soft is an amazing little pot of colored "sprinkles" that you turn ordinary designs into a garden of color, dimension and fun!    Flower Soft is an innovative product that allows Stompers  and  paper crafters to add texture and embellishments to a wide variety of projects. Flower Soft is an almost spongy, sprinkly, brightly colored, light as a feather material that gives realistic look & texture to images. Flower Soft is very light and does not add any significant weight to a project. 

While  the name suggest that Flower Soft should be used on flowers, I am here to tell you that it can be used   anywhere you want to add a pop of color or texture.  Because it is acid free, it can be used in many different projects. It is simple to use and it can be added directly to a project by applying glue or other adhesive and covering this with the Flower Soft sprinkles.  

Now while Flower Soft may look intimidating it truly is not all you have to do is decide where you would like the Flower-Soft placed, add a dab of glue, and sprinkle it on. Tap off the excess and keep shake.

Supplies used for this Tutorial:

By now most of you know I like the one layer cards so I decided to do one today. Image from Bugaboo printed on PTI Kraft Brown with a computer generated sentiment. Printed paper (Stampin Up)  for paper piecing, Flower soft (nut brown) and Flower Soft glue (while FS glue is recommended other high tack glues can be substituted), to finish it off brown and white twine from the Twinery.

 

Before you begin to add your flower soft you need to color in parts where FS will not be.  Now is the time to also paper piece if you go that route.  As you can see I have left my bear bare, I will be showing you how I use flower soft as fur on images.

Apply the flower soft glue to your image, on the areas you want to add flower soft. You don't need to add a glob of glue, just enough to cover that area.

I put just a thin coat on image

Flower Soft comes pretty well packed in the container  it must be loosened up.  When adding flower soft to the glue, be sure to sprinkle it on with your fingers to make sure it separated not lumpy. You could also dump it in a bowl and separate it with your fingers.    Then just dump it on. YEP just like that. like glitter. you don't even have to be neat about it

After your entire “glue area” is covered with Flower Soft gently push down on the Flower Soft  kind of pushing it down in the glue. Then you gently brush off the excess. It is that simple!

Here is the finished product after applying the entire flower soft to the desired areas. I love the look of it because it makes it look like a fuzzy cuddly bear ,

and here is what it looks like up close....

Here is my finished card. Still Clean and Simple just the way I like it!

I hope this tutorial was helpful for all of you whether you have used flower soft or not. If not, you have got to try this out. You will love it! Don't be afraid to try your Flower Soft on ANYTHING!

Below is a wonderful my card today using the newest Bugaboo image being released today.   I  could not resist adding the phone booth to my little guy to finish it off.    I used PTI cardstock and some paper I have had in my stash.  I glazed the windows of the phone booth to add texture.   Sentiment is a freebie from MelJens.

New Challenge – Strong Inspirational Women!

Today we start a new challenge over at Crafty Hos and it is all about Celebrating Strong women.  Today I decided to do a Mother’s day card because my mom is a very strong woman who did a great job as mom and wife providing us with all the tools we would need to carry on a fulfilling life!  Thanks Mom!

Below is my card using Kraft brown and some plaid paper I distressed then added some scraps for the separate squares.   This adorable image is one of Jodie's from Bugaboo in her Spring mini set.
